Freiligrathplatz: Now is reconverted
Dusseldorf - So, what is called a negligent waste of taxpayers' money.
The Freiligrathplatz in the north had been modified in 2004 for 1, 7 million euros. Now everything must be changed again.
The place had become a storage case, residents had complained. The re-conversion goes in the hundreds of thousands.
Around 165,000 euros will cost the city's decommissioning action. And that's not enough: the country still calls back the funds with which it had sponsored the first botched Reconstruction: 60,000 euros.
After the first reconstruction (2004) it was hailed motorists and residents protests. The police complained. The Lower road narrows to one lane, had become before the Freiligrathplatz congestion trap. At events in the arena or at fair times there was nothing. The residents, almost suffocated in the stench.
But first, bouncing off all protests. Even in January, said Andrea Blome, head of the Office of Traffic Management: "I do not see any improvement."
But the pressure of population has been increasing. Until the order and Verkehrsauschuss decided, for a "sustainable improvement again to ensure, through two traffic lanes" to. Residents Rolf Drilling shakes his head: "This building would be nonsense to take the woman beratungsresistente Blome liable. It is amazing how this crap was built and still defended. "
The construction of disaster, the city now costs around 225,000 euros. Andrea Blome, however, remains cool: "The appeal situation was such that we have rethought everything. There are new planning and technical approaches, and we have now implemented. "
